Nursery

Child Care

We provide child care during Sunday morning service for infants and toddlers from 9 months to 2 years old (up to their third birthday).

Safety is our highest priority, and we have several systems in place to make sure your children are well cared for. We have background-checked and trained volunteers who will care for and pray over your little ones during our worship service.

The nursery is located within the building, containing various classrooms, and it's in Room #1. Our greeters in the main lobby can direct you to the nursery location.

FAQs for Parents

  • The nursery opens at 9:50 AM on Sunday mornings, 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the worship service. Parents are asked to pick up the children within 10 minutes of the end of worship service.

  • Yes. Children should not be dropped off in the nursery if they are exhibiting the following symptoms:

    • Fever, diarrhea, or vomiting within the last 48 hours

    • Green or yellow runny nose

    • Eye discoloration or skin infections

    • Persistent or productive cough

    • Other symptoms of contagious or infectious disease

If the child starts showing signs of sickness, volunteers will have a thermometer to check for fever and notify parents immediately to pick up their child.

  • In brief, when a parent drops a child off to the nursery, they will receive a sticker with a number on it. That number corresponds with the sticker placed on the child's clothing. Parents are asked to turn in their sticker when they return to pick their child up.

  • Due to the increase in food allergies and dietary restrictions for children, strict adherence to snack guidelines is necessary to ensure the safety of all children. Children will be given Gluten-free & Nut-free Snacks. They are also provided water.

Parents should communicate all special considerations for their children, especially allergies.

  • The nursery staff will make every effort to accommodate the needs of children so long as they are able to provide a safe environment. Parents should communicate all special considerations for their children.

  • If a child is noticeably ill or injured, the parent will be contacted immediately. If sick, the child will be separated from the other children until the parent arrives to remove the child from the nursery. LHBC members are not authorized to administer medication of any kind. If a child is inconsolable (10 minutes of nonstop crying), the parent will be contacted immediately. Under no circumstances will the child be allowed to "cry her or himself out." If a child is disruptive (e.g., hurting other children or unresponsive to caregiver redirection), the parent of the child will be contacted immediately.

We ask that the parents keep their phones on vibrate and next to them in case the leader needs to contact them to pick their child up.

  • No less than 2 workers are always present in the nursery. At least one of the two workers is a leader. The ratio of volunteers to children in the nursery is 1:4. All Volunteers of 18 years and older have received a background check, are members of Living Hope Bible Church, and have been approved by LHBC leadership.

  • Parents are kindly asked not to accompany their children into the nursery. If a child is unable to calm down after 10 minutes, parents will be notified to collect them, and are welcome to try again next week. Due to space constraints, we are unable to accommodate all children, volunteers, and parents in the nursery. Parents are encouraged to use the overflow room, which has a live stream available.

  • Yes, unless the parent asks not to. Our Volunteers will always keep the wipe between their hand and the child while wiping, disinfect the changing table after each use, and wash their hands between changing each child's diaper.

If a child is in the process of being potty trained, the parent will need to communicate that to the Volunteers.
